DEPPI (the Disability, Employment, and Public Policies Initiative) is a multidisciplinary project aiming to improve the understanding of the preparation, integration, access, participation, and job retention of people with disabilities. The objective of DEPPI is to recommend public policies that boost the employability of people with disabilities in a changing labour market.

The work of DEPPI is based on evidence from field experiments, administrative records, and detailed interviews with employers and people living with physical disabilities.

Under the second phase of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) joint Healthy and Productive Work initiative, DEPPI was awarded a five-year grant of $1,593,315 ($514,260 from the CIHR, $629,634 from the SSHRC, and $449,421 from the project partners). This phase will allow the project to extend the work already done while developing an increased understanding of labour market stakeholders' perceptions of productivity and integration costs related to the employment of people with disabilities. The project will also investigate the challenges associated with the transition from employment to retirement and aim to understand the different programs currently available.
