Working is a basic vehicle of social participation for people living with disabilities. However, their labour market access is often hindered by physical, psychological and cultural barriers. The research community is increasingly interested in this issue. It is in this context that the project “Evaluation and development of policies aiming to support the integration and the retention of people with disabilities in the labour market” was conducted by a multidisciplinary research team. In an exploratory phase, one of its aims was to understand and document the experiences of people with disabilities in a regular work environment: in a working situation or looking for a job. The data was gathered between April and August 2017 from 42 participants living with a motor disability (n=21; 50%), a visual disability (n=12; 29%) or a hearing disability (n=9; 21%). Interviews were conducted in-person in the Québec National Capital Region (n=17; 40%) and in the greater Montréal region (n=25; 60%). During that period, 27 of the participants (64%) were in a work situation and 15 (36%) were looking for a job.
